A corsage is kind of like the old mullet hairstyle saying, only in reverse: party in the front, and business in back. The front of a corsage consists of a small bunch of flowers, while the back features a pin or an elastic band that will secure the flowers to your date. Typically, the guy gives the girl a corsage to wear. But, a girls can certainly buy their own corsages, too.
Talk to Your Date
The key to picking out the perfect corsage is knowing what your date is wearing. Make sure to ask her what color her dress is, and whether or not it’s strapless.
Choosing a Corsage Color
Corsages can be made of any flower in any color, but they usually feature carnations or roses. You’ll want to match the flowers and the ribbon to the color of your date’s dress. If you’re not sure what will match, ask your florist for advice, or choose white.
Pin Corsages vs. Wrist Corsages
If your date’s dress has sleeves or straps, you’ll be able to pin a corsage to it. If it’s strapless, you’ll be better off with a wrist corsage.
