Short & Sweet Since prom dresses are typically formal and floor-sweeping, let those legs take a breather with a shorter dress for homecoming. Choose a hem that hits between the mid-calf to lower-thigh – too long looks matronly, too short looks risqué.

...Or Go Long Overdressing isn't the crime is used to be. Maxi dresses are considered prom attire, but they are completely acceptable – and, oftentimes, refreshing – for homecoming. Keep the makeup unfussy, the jewelry relaxed, and sparkles (and beads, sequins, rhinestones, etc.) to a minimum.

Decorate Yourself A semi-formal homecoming is the time to debut that jaw-dropping cocktail ring, shoulder-sweeping earrings, or glamorous red carpet-worthy. The key to homecoming dress success: choose two great accessories, and keep everything else as understated as possible.
