For prom makeup ideas, I always turn to the red carpet. One of my fav celebs to emulate is Miley Cyrus. She always looks glam, but is never overdone.

I fell in love with Miley all over again when I saw her in this pale yellow Roberto Cavalli gown. Sure, the dress is a bit revealing, but her messy side braid and ombre hair color bring a good-girl vibe to her look… reminding everyone that even though she may call Los Angeles home now, she’s originally a Tennessee gal. Her makeup is absolutely flawless, with just a hint of a smoky eye and pale lips.

Miley’s look would make for some flawless prom makeup. The shades are neutral enough that they’ll match any color dress, and the dark lashes will draw your date’s attention to your eyes.

Here’s what you need to get this prom makeup look:

False eyelashes

Black mascara

Kohl black pencil eye liner

White shimmer eye shadow

Tan eye shadow

Dark grey eye shadow

Orange-rose blush

Pale matte lipstick the color of your lips

Step One: Prep your face by cleansing it thoroughly. I recommend Pond’s Cleansing Wipes to remove makeup, dirt and oil. Apply a thin layer of moisturizer.

Step Two: Apply your false eye lashes to each eye. Make sure they’re as close to your lash line as possible.

Step Three: Apply your kohl black eyeliner. Line your top eyelid by making a thick line above your false lashes. Then, draw a thin line on your bottom waterline and lightly smudge it with your finger.

Step Four: Apply the white shimmer eye shadow starting at the middle of your eyelid. Bring it out to the inner corner of your eye and up toward your eyebrow.

Step Five: Apply the tan eye shadow from the middle of your lid up to your brow bone. Blend it so it meets your white eye shadow seamlessly.

Step Six: Take a small amount of dark grey eye shadow and apply it to the outer corner of your eye. Wing it up and out so the shape follows your eyelashes.

Step Seven: Coat your top and bottom lashes with mascara.

Step Eight: Smile, then apply a generous amount of blush to the apples of your cheeks.

Step Nine: Sweep the pale lipstick over your lips. Or, just use a coat of clear lipgloss.

Next, Miley’s sleek ponytail and pink lips.
