What should I wear to a summer formal event?

From Casey Lewis, for About.com

Question: What should I wear to a summer formal event?

I'm going to a banquet this summer that requires a formal dress. I feel like I just put away my gown from prom and the last thing I want to do is wear it again so soon. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I want look nice - and have fun without worrying about my outfit.

Answer: Instead of spending big bucks to buy another formal gown, find a really great cocktail dress that you can spiff up with fancy accessories.

High heels always add a sophisticated spin, so start with a pair of metallic slingback stilettos or embellished peep-toe pumps. Pull you hair back and add really glamorous shoulder-dusting earrings. Grab a stack of shimmery bangles - the "clink-clink" of bangle bracelets will announce your arrival in the most elegant way. Finish off the look with a liberal coat of classic red lipstick.

With a quick swap of accessories - trade the heels for ballet flats, switch the dangling earrings with cute button earrings - you will be able to wear a cocktail dress again and again.
